Bunker

The former communist dictator, Hoxha, who closed the borders of Albania in 1967, and declared it to be an atheist country, built 400,000 of these bunkers throughout the country.  They were intended to protect Albania from being taken over by foreigners ever again.  The cost of 2 of these would have built a Soviet style apartment.  They were used only for training.

Or caravanserai, where caravans pulled in at night for food, shelter and safety on the Silk Road.  The animals and goods were sheltered and fed on the first floor, while the second floor was for the traders . This is now a restaurant.

These three buildings are the only ones that survived an earthquake in 1963.
